ANGELA WEE TO SOLO WITH MYO

ANGELA WEE will perform the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E with the MYO Chamber Orchestra on June 5 at Carnegie Hall.

Angela Wee is twelve years old and a student at South Woods Middle School in Syosset. She has started playing violin when she was four. She entered Juilliard Pre-College at the age of ten, under the tutelage of Shirley Givens.  Since the age of six, Angela has won several competitions such as the New York Music Competition where she won first prize, performing in Carnegie Hall. In 2008, she performed the Lalo Symphonie Espagnole in  Carnegie Hall as a grand prize winner.  In 2009, she was alternate for the Ensemble 212 Young Artist Competition, a finalist of the Long Island Philhamonic Young Artist Competition, and an honorable mention for the Greenwich Village Orchestra Concerto Competition.

Angela has had several performing experiences at Carnegie hall and Lincoln center both as a soloist and orchestra musician. At the age of 7, she was accepted to MYO and was concertmistress several times.    During the summer of 2008, Angela performed as a soloist at the Interharmony Music Festival in Germany.  In 2009, she was accepted as a Young Artist of the 2009 Starling-Delay Symposium on the violin studies at the Juilliard Music School. She had masterclasses with  Chee-Yun Kim, Paul Kantor, and David Kim.  Currently, Angela is being coached at Juilliard for chamber music.  She is also part of the Juilliard Pre-College Symphony Orchestra. Angela will be attending the 2010 Aspen Music program this summer where she is a recipient of the New Horizon fellowship.
