My MYO Story

One of my best experiences in MYO was traveling through Eastern Europe with MYO in 2010. Being the concertmaster of the orchestra not only gave me more knowledge about music and orchestra, but also gave me more confidence as a musician and a leader.  Performing in some of the world’s top concert halls such as the Mozarteum, the Haydn hall in Eizenstadt, and ancient cathedrals gave me inspiration to become a professional musician and hopes to visit these places again. I started MYO in 7th grade and was a member of the Suffolk Principal Orchestra in its debut year.  The orchestra gave me the opportunity to play challenging masterpieces by master composers, something I could not do if I hadn’t joined MYO. Besides the music, I made lifelong friends, some of whom graduated and with whom I continue to stay in touch, and others whom I can look forward to seeing every Thursday. The only thing I can say is, “Thank you MYO for giving me the experience of a lifetime!”
