MYO would like to recognize and publicly thank the Freeport Community Concert Association for their generous donation of $5,500 to support talented MYO and Freeport students with tuition scholarships and two senior scholarships worth $1,000 to seniors majoring in music at a college level in Fall 2020.

Steven Cooney, bass trombonist with the MYO Principal Orchestra, Class of 2007. With a passion for music and the arts, Steven began his career in the second grade after deciding the trombone was going to be his instrument of choice; the start to his story. Stephen Duggan, Tuba
Stephen Duggan was a proud member of MYO from 2000-2006 and performed with the Nassau Concert and Principal Orchestras under Patsy Koppeis and Scott Stickley. Brian Johnston, Trombone
Brian Johnston is an alumnus of The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York (Suffolk Principal Orchestra, 2010-2011). On November 12, 2018, Brian took the audition for 2nd trombone of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, where he competed with nearly 40 other trombonists for that position. Brian was the first one to play that day, and was
Neil Miller, Viola
From Long Island NY, Neil Miller is a second year Masters student at the Eastman School of Music majoring in viola performance. He also attended Eastman as an undergraduate and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance. This past summer Neil spent 8 intensive weeks at the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckinridge Colorado
MYO Mourns the Loss of Alumnus Joseph Ferriso
MYO mourns the loss of Joseph Ferriso, Nassau Principal Orchestra horn player, class of 2013. Joseph passed away on Saturday, January 3 from injuries sustained in a car accident. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family and friends.
