Celebrating MYO’s 25th Anniversary with 1,000 Young Musicians at Carnegie Hall

The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York (MYO) is celebrating our 25th Anniversary by presenting all 15 of our Choirs and Orchestras in concert this Sunday, May 6 at 12:30PM and 7:30PM on one of the most famous stages in the world, Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall, located at 881 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019. Concerts feature works by Berlioz, Bernstein, Copland, Ives, Mozart, Rossini and more, and will showcase the world premiere of One Song composed by Melissa Keylock and Jill Friedersdorf and commissioned by The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York’s Nassau and Suffolk Treble Choirs with Music Director Craig Knapp. The concerts are open to the public. Tickets range in price from $17.50 – $55 and can be purchased from Carnegie Hall www.carnegiehall.org

The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York is committed to fostering a community of talented young musicians from Long Island and providing them with an opportunity to rehearse and perform choral and orchestral masterworks at the highest possible level with recognized leaders in music education and performance. Founded in the fall of 1993 by John C. McNeur, MYO has grown from one orchestra of fifteen members to seven orchestras, a flute choir, and seven choral ensembles, serving over 1,000 young musicians between the ages of 8 and 18.
