Neil Miller, Viola MYO Alumni Class of 2011From Long Island NY, Neil Miller is a second year Masters student at the Eastman School of Music majoring in viola performance. He also attended Eastman as an undergraduate and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance. This past summer Neil spent 8 intensive weeks at the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckinridge Colorado where he performed in over 20 concerts playing 120 orchestral works. Conductors included Karina Canellakis, Andrew Litton, Peter Oundjian and Michael Stern. He has also participated in LyricaFest in Boston as well as Charles Castleman’s Quartet Program both in Boulder, CO, and Fredonia, NY. He has studied with Shirley Givens, Lynn Blakeslee, Renée Jolles, Carol Kushner and Barbara Weber, and is currently a student of George Taylor. Neil was recently appointed to the position of contract section viola with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
